Last month I completed a semester at Harvard Medical School studying lifestyle medicine. The Executive Education was a course on Lifestyle and Wellness Coaching.

Throughout each module we acquired practical skills and frameworks to help empower others and cultivate strong client relationships.

A BIG emphasis was on the six pillars of lifestyle medicine, which help clients make informed lifestyle and wellbeing changes through a bespoke mentorship program that leads with compassion and client collaboration.

One of the six pillars is about social interactions. The brain science behind the sense of belonging, community and whom you invest time with.

Social interactions activate crucial networks in the brain that support wellbeing, behaviors and overall health. Social interactions involve physical communication in the company of other likeminded individuals. The brain science behind social connections supports motivation and more robust memories. The more people feel connected to a group the better they feel mentally and physically.

When people interact together their brain activity becomes more synchronized which increases the overall understanding and communication. This generates three of the four components of The AGES Model

Attention (focus and clarity)

Generation (creativity and inspiration)

Emotion (positive feelings)

Spacing (time between sessions)

Social connection is best in person but if you’re connecting virtually ensure that the video is on and the communication flows both ways. The more interactive with the senses the more networks in the brain are connected to the interaction.

Social interactions also prompt people to pursue new and innovative courses of action. These can be influenced by social pressures to naturally want to do better.  Remember that ensuring your network is surrounded with inspiration, you will elevate both personally and professionally.

The best way to create change both personally and professionally is to transform working and social environments. Enriching the mental mindset and verbal mouth set helps to embed new inspiration and transform that into opportunities. By sharing information, ideas and inspiration with a group innovative strategies, methods and techniques are transcribed.

Thank you for reading, if this was useful please 🩷 and if it could help someone in your network, please share.

Thank you ~ Diana x
